The Friends of Maga Ta-Hohpi develop and host new activities each year.  Keep an eye on our website for future programs as well.  We constantly strive to find new ways to keep families coming, learning about the environment, and enjoying the outdoors.  We also have a a virtual geo-cache on Maga Ta-Hohpi;


Friends Group Monthly Meeting:  Please come join our monthly meetings at the Huron Chamber of Commerce.  Friends Group meetings are typically at noon on the first Wednesday of the Month.   Join our mailing list to be notified of Friends Group Meetings.  We also have seperate meetings to plan Prairie Fest.

2nd Annual Earth Day Clean UP:  Start time 3:00PM Ravine Lake East shelter by Putters and Scoops. Gloves and bags provided that day. Need a different day? call Bobby Jamison 605-354-3117.  Rain day April 24.

Dutch Oven event with Huron Izaak Walton League Free fishing day:  May 17 8:00am come and enjoy some snacks prepared with outdoor Dutch Ovens.  Enjoy the free fishing day at Ravine Lake shelter (west side shelter). Sponsored by the Huron Isaac Walton League.  Must Call GF&P office (605)353-7145 to register by May 16. 

2014 DOG (Dutch Oven Gathering) June 5:  Starts at 5:30 pm West shelter Ravine Lake.  Come and joing us and share a Dutch oven treat.  Bring your dutch Ovens and a dish to share.  If you need some help or a refresher on cooking your dish in a Dutch oven we will have experienced Dutch Oven instructors available to help you.  Please bring you own charcoal and drink.                         

Nature Fun Day: June 21  Come to Maga Ta-Hohpi for a day of fun interactive activities for all ages.

Huron Prairie Fest: September 13 Most notable of the events we provide is Huron Prairie Fest, which has become a signature event for the Huron community. Huron Prairie Fest is a free, outdoor event featuring environmental educational programs and hands on activities for the whole family.   Our theme for this year is the wonder of birds.  A presentation will be given by the Black Hills raptor center at 3:00pm.
